Natural VS Organic Foods by Deb Bixler
Natural and Organic is not the same
Many people think that natural and organic foods are the same, when in fact they are very different. Natural has no legal definition, therefore it's definition is that of the person or company writing it. In other words when someone prints natural on a food label it means whatever the company or writer decide it means. Organic on the other hand has strict government guidelines that the food must follow. To define organic in a short sentence is difficult because the government definition is an entire book. Basically organic means that a food item is not treated with chemicals, pesticides or other non-food-food-additives at any point from planting to table. For those of you who really want pesticide and chemical free foods, organic is the safes bet. Natural foods may still be good choices, but do not trust the label, always look at the ingredient list. The label is a marketing tool, and the ingredients are the facts. Here is a fun, fast, healthy recipe for an organic veggie stir-fry.
